FDC and Associates Ltd. is proud to support Shine this year, kindly nominated by Paul Hehir. FDC is committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the world. Through our FDC Charity Fund, we support a range of charitable causes both locally, nationally and globally. Since our inauguration in 2005, we have donated over €420,000 to various charities, with a focus on supporting programmes that promote sustainable access to food, health and education.
Every member of staff in FDC has the opportunity to give back. By nominating that a portion of their wages goes to charity each week, FDC matches the donations given by staff. Once a year, everyone who donates to the fund can nominate a charity of their choice to potentially receive the donation.
Paul chose to support Shine as it is an organisation that has impacted his life personally. Paul said, “My daughter attended preschool in Shine and loved it there. The staff are brilliant with the kids and provide a safe and fun environment which really helps the kids to thrive.”
“Regarding his experience with the FDC Charity Fund, Paul said, “It feels great to be donating to a charity that gives to local as well as national and international causes. Our department originally started collecting for charity when we introduced Casual Friday in the early 2000s. When the FDC charity started up, we transferred over to it, so I have been donating since the very beginning. If you want to donate to a charity that supports a wide range of vital and worthwhile causes, then the FDC Charity is ideal.”
Shine is a Registered Charity and Not for Profit Company based in Carrigaline Co Cork. Shine was established by a group of parents in 2001 to provide services, support and information to autistic children and their families. In that time the organisation has grown to work with many hundreds of autistic children and their families across Cork city and county and beyond.
The Shine Centre provides a wide range of services and programmes to autistic children, adolescents and teenagers as well as support and training services for parents, siblings and educators. The organisation firmly believes in the right of autistic people and their families to be heard and for the services and supports that they need to be provided to them. At Shine, the organisation focuses on the best outcomes for both the child and family, and they are fully committed to providing each of our children with the opportunity to reach their full potential and to support and empower their parents with practical advice, knowledge and information during that journey.
“We are very grateful to everyone at FDC for your generous donation, it will allow us to provide additional resources for the children and families we support and make a real difference in their lives.”– Kieran McAuliffe (Shine)
