FDC Financial Services Ltd. is proud to support Irish Sepsis Foundation, kindly nominated by Shane Barrett. FDC is committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the world. Through our FDC Charity Fund, we support a range of charitable causes both locally, nationally and globally. Since our inauguration in 2005, we have donated over €420,000 to various charities, with a focus on supporting programmes that promote sustainable access to food, health and education.

Shane commented on the impact of the FDC Charity Fund saying, “Contributing to the FDC Charity has given me a greater perspective of the challenges people face beyond our own day-to-day working lives. It’s reassuring to know a small weekly donation to the charity can play a big role in helping others. The regular updates from the FDC Charity are great reminders of the positive impact the charity contributions can have.”

Sepsis arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multi-organ failure and death, especially if not recognised early and treated promptly. Sepsis is the final common pathway to death from most infectious diseases worldwide, including viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19.

Shane recounted why he joined the FDC Charity Fund and encouraged fellow colleagues to join as well. “I joined FDC almost 2 years ago and started donating to the FDC charity not long after. I had heard about the charity through the marketing teams emails and updates to staff which highlighted the work being done and showed the difference the charity contributions can make to both local and international charities.

I’d encourage all staff who aren’t currently involved with the charity to start donating. It’s a chance to play your part in something positive and meaningful without requiring a huge commitment of time or effort. It’s quick and easy to sign up. The donations are made via salary deduction, so you would hardly even notice the deduction on your payslip. With FDC matching contributions it really shows how a little can go a long way.”

A note from the Irish Sepsis Foundation: Join us in our journey to combat sepsis, save lives, and create a future where sepsis is not just treatable but preventable. Together, we can make a profound impact on the health and well-being of our Nation.
