FDC Tax Department Ltd. is proud to support Cork ARC Cancer Support House through nomination by FDC employee, Chloe Heffernan.
FDC is committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the world. Through our FDC Charity Fund, we support a range of charitable causes both locally, nationally and globally. Since our inauguration in 2005, we have donated over €420,000 to various charities, with a focus on supporting programmes that promote sustainable access to food, health and education.
Cork ARC is a safe haven for people with cancer and their families, where you can find information, practical help and emotional support. Whatever stage of your cancer journey, you are not alone. If you are a cancer patient or someone close to you has cancer, the organisation is here to offer patients specialist professional support ranging from counselling to pilates classes to information on social welfare.
Their mission is to provide support to those with a cancer diagnosis and their loved ones, empowering them with compassion and understanding. With a dedicated team of professionals and trained volunteers, the organisation aims to ease the emotional burden, inspire resilience and nurture hope, fostering a strong sense of community and well-being.
Chloe Heffernan: “FDC Charity has had a very positive impact on me by giving me the opportunity to contribute to meaningful causes and support people who genuinely need help. It is rewarding to know that even small, regular contributions can collectively make a real difference in people’s lives. Being part of an organisation that actively supports charitable initiatives also creates a strong sense of community and shared purpose among colleagues. I first heard about the FDC Charity through work colleagues who spoke very positively about the work it does and the impact it has, and I have been donating since September 2022. Their enthusiasm and the transparency around the initiatives encouraged me to get involved.”
Chloe discussed how important donating to charity is saying, “I would encourage anyone in FDC to consider donating because it’s an easy way to contribute to meaningful causes and support communities in need. Even small contributions can add up to make a significant difference when many people get involved. It’s also a great opportunity to be part of something positive within the company and help create real impact through collective effort.

More about the organisation:
Cork ARC Cancer Support House was born from a shared vision: to bridge the gap in cancer support services and provide a place of comfort, care, and understanding for those affected by cancer in the Munster region.
In 2001, a dedicated group of individuals formed a Board of Trustees and set out to create what would become Cork ARC Cancer Support House. With the support of the Department of Health, we were granted the use of ‘Cliffdale’ on O’Donovan Rossa Road. A full refurbishment was undertaken, transforming the space into a warm, welcoming sanctuary where people could find solace and support. In 2003, we opened our doors, and from day one, it was clear that Cork ARC was meeting a vital need.
As demand for our services grew, so did our vision. In 2017, after years of searching for a larger space, we purchased Sarsfield House on Sarsfield Road. Following an extensive redevelopment project in 2019, this 8,000 sq. ft. building became our new home—a haven of care, where those affected by cancer can find the support they need in a safe and soothing environment.
