Honoria Gilcrist, Manager of Carlow Women’s Aid, with Paddy Murphy, FDC Group Regional Manager of the Midlands.
In 2024, An Garda Síochána reported 65,000 domestic abuse incidents, translating to an average of 1,250 incidents every week.* 35 per cent of women in Ireland have experienced some form of abuse from a partner.*
The Midlands Region (with offices in Roscrea, Carlow, Templemore, Tipperary Town, Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Tullow, Cahir and Mullingar) is proud to support Carlow Women’s Aid through its contributions to the FDC Charity Fund. The FDC Charity Fund supports charities both in Ireland and abroad through the generous contributions of its staff members. As a show of solidarity, FDC matches every staff contribution, allowing the ripples of support to be seen and felt even further. The Midlands Region nominated Carlow Women’s Aid as the recipient for their donations made in the 2024 fiscal year.

The organisation is committed to supporting families affected by domestic violence. Their services include a support helpline, appointments, legal information, court accompaniment, risk assessment, safety planning, support counselling and day respite facilities.
In Carlow Women’s Aid, while working with families affected by domestic violence and abuse, we commit ourselves to walking with people to a better future in a non-judgmental, professional, confidential and holistic way.
Honoria Gilchrist, manager of Carlow Women’s Aid, acknowledged the significance of FDC Group’s donation, “Carlow Women’s Aid relies entirely on donations to support women and children who are sometimes forced to flee their homes due to domestic abuse. Unfortunately, we receive no government funding for this vital work. Families often leave with very little and no financial means. Your generosity enables us to provide essentials such as clothing, food, toiletries, basic essential and transport to a refuge or safe house, sometimes we have to provide hotel accommodation. The difference this makes is immediate — the relief on their faces says it all. Your support offers not just practical help, but real hope.“
At FDC Group, we harness the power of the collective. Through staff donations matched by FDC, we have the immense privilege of serving those in need in communities across Ireland.
