Celebrating 50 Years of Success: Insights from Tim Hurley, Regional Manager of FDC Group

FDC Group is celebrating 50 years in business. To mark this milestone, we are sitting down with our Senior Management team to gain insights from their experiences. For the October feature, we interviewed Tim Hurley, Regional Manager of the Western Region.

Tim is one of the more recent additions to the Senior Management team at FDC Group, taking on the role in 2018. He oversees the thriving practices in Limerick, Newcastle West, Kilmallock, Ennistymon, Ennis and Scariff.

Originally from West Cork, Tim joined FDC group in 2004 and says “I have been very fortunate with all the experiences I have had throughout my career, particularly in FDC. For my part, FDC Group has and continues to be a wonderful opportunity”.  Tim is no stranger to seeking out opportunities. He studied Accountancy in college in Limerick and, after qualifying as an Accountant, Tim travelled to Sydney, Australia. Nearly 2 years later, Tim returned to his Munster roots and embarked on a new career at FDC Group. That was 19 years ago and he first joined the Newcastle West team in Co. Limerick. Shortly after, he was promoted to oversee the expansion into the Limerick and Clare region.

When asked about the future of the company, Tim remains confident in its continued development. “The future is bright for FDC, the last 5 to 10 years have been fantastic. There is an increased profile of the company coupled with a consistent branding that leads to a clear representation of what we do in the marketplace.”

From Tim’s perspective, developments of this nature paired with a positive culture make for an exceptional work environment. “There is fantastic support both within and outside the company. This can-do attitude doesn’t come from the Senior Management team, but rather from our committed staff and the continued support of our loyal clients.” Tim certainly contributes to the can-do attitude in the Western Region and encourages progression within the company.

“Much like the Limerick hurling team, we don’t take our success for granted. Our ambition is to serve our clients and never take the loyalty they place in our services and team for granted.”

A major sporting fan, Tim embraces the competitiveness of the sporting community of his adopted county of Limerick. The Western Region is built on a locality and we, at FDC Group, attempt to support the locality. The enduring loyalty to clients is a wonderful feature of our Group. Our direction, decisions, and business model are built with the clients in mind. Much like the Limerick hurling team, we don’t take our success for granted. Our ambition is to serve our clients and never take the loyalty they place in our services and team for granted.

As we wrap up the conversation, Tim reiterates his gratitude for the opportunities that FDC Group have provided him. However, it can also be said that his staff and clients are just as grateful for Tim’s contribution to the company. It really is a two-way street.
